Apart from the amazing effectiveness of the A12s, what has surprised us most is that all the possums were all caught in areas where there was recent pindone possum control carried out.
After noticing signs of possums on one of our traplines we decided to purchase and evaluate seven A12 Goodnature traps in May 2013. We had immediate results with 13 possums being killed in the first two weeks. When funding allowed, a further twenty A12 traps were
purchased in June, 2013 and deployed on three other traplines. Within a month we had killed another 50 possums, making a total of 63 possums in all since the deployment of our A12s.
Apart from the amazing effectiveness of the A12s, what has surprised us most is that all the possums were all caught in areas where there was recent pindone possum control carried out by the Animal Health Board and therefore should have been relatively possum free.
The contrast between the what the pindone control achieved and the A12 possum control has achieved was a real eye-opener for our group and made us realise that possum control using these super-effective A12 Goodnature traps must become a regular and major part of our pest management control programme.
We are now about to purchase another thirty A12 Goodnature traps so we can have full coverage on all our seven traplines with the A12 traps being deployed and serviced by our volunteers on a permanent basis. Another observation is that after about two months of no possums on the three areas targeted, we have just started to notice that further possums are once again beginning to be caught as
new possums move into the areas previously targeted.
It is obvious that Goodnature have perfected the lure attractant for the traps and the simplicity of removing the traps and placing them in different locations makes them perfect to target different areas along our traplines on a regular basis.
Based on our experience, we would highly recommend the A12 Goodnature trap to other conservation trapping groups as a most effective way of attracting and killing possums.
